Hearthside ("we", "us") built Desktop Mode Tools ("the app") as a productivity layer for Android desktop mode. This policy explains what the app accesses, what leaves your device, and what does not. We designed the app to keep your content on your device. The only data we collect is anonymous diagnostics, described below.
1. Summary
- Your content stays on your device. Clipboard history, pinned files, app/window data, and your settings are stored locally and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
- No account, no sign-in, no ads, and we do not sell or share your personal data.
- We collect anonymous usage analytics and crash reports (via Google Firebase) to fix bugs and improve the app. These never include your clipboard contents, file contents, or screen contents.
2. Information stored only on your device (never sent to us)
The following is processed and stored locally on your phone and is not transmitted to us:
- Clipboard history — text, links, and references to files you copy. Stored in an encrypted on-device database (SQLCipher). Used only to show your clipboard history inside the app.
- Pinned files / app dock items — references (URIs/labels) to apps and files you pin.
- Window and app information — when the optional Accessibility service is enabled, the app reads window geometry, focus, and the package name of the active window to place windows and rank apps in the command palette. It does not read the text or content of your screen.
- Usage statistics — when you grant Usage Access, the app reads which apps you've used recently to rank results in the command palette. This stays on the device.
- Your preferences — language, hotkey, panel transparency, pins, and similar settings.
You can clear local data at any time from the app (Clipboard History) or by clearing the app's storage / uninstalling it in Android settings.
